KiGoo: Linking Your Google Calendar to Outlook

July 10th, 2008 | by GTD Wannabe |

I’ve just received an email promoting an interesting product that I thought I would share with you here.  Note: I haven’t tried it out myself, since I’m a little busy.  (Thesis?  What thesis?  I’m busy prepping for a job interview.  Eeek!)

Anyway, the product is KiGoo, which promises a way of accessing your Google calendar through MS Outlook.  It’s not a sync tool, but rather a way for you to actually bring your Google Calendar into Outlook, and modify it.  I thought it was a neat idea.

From the KiGoo web page:

Manage Google Calendar through the MS Outlook interface.

Key Benefits
Manage Exchange and Google Calendars in only one program !!
Check free/busy availability of all Google Contacts who shared their   information !!
See, Browse, Update, Email and invite your Google Contacts from MS Outlook !!
No synchronization needed!!
Real Time access!!
Easy installation!!
Supports MS Outlook 2007!!
KiGoo is free for non commercial use!

I would love for a few of you to try it out and let us know how it fares in the comments.

I tried this. Sounded like a great idea. Installed it, and everything looked lovely. Went to add a new item to my Google calendar using the Outlook calendar interface, and Outlook froze big-time. The appt did get added to GCal, but I needed to kill Outlook manually. Tried it all a second time. Same result. Uninstalled. What a shame.

Wow, that is a shame. Thanks for being a guinea pig though :)

I think it’s worth keeping an eye on though. It’s a great idea and potentially so well integrated. A much better solution than one that syncs with an outlook calendar.

FYI, not sure if you have already posted about it, but I’ve been using the very simple & handy Google Calendar Sync program. I must admit that it’s now a breeze to keep my wife updated on things I’m committed to, as well as combining with the calendar for my son’s daycare, etc.

Not sure if you have posted about this application yet, but it’s amazingly handy particularly since I’m not switching to Outlook 2007 anytime this decade. In addition, it doesn’t force me to move my dependency on Outlook for e-mail & contacts.
